Photos are everywhere . . . but do you ever look at them?

Wherever you are right now, chances are that if you look around you, many people will be looking at their phones. It seems that we are increasingly dependent on our phones to manage every aspect of our lives.

Gone are the days when we just used our phones for calls and texts. Now we also have access to emails, social media, online shopping, calendars, maps – and an app for just about anything you care to think of. And, of course, a camera.

Everywhere you look, someone is using their phone to take a photo. Usually featuring people. Whether it’s a group shot or a selfie there seems to be a never-ending process of photos being taken.

How many photos do you have – and what do you do with them?

So it should come as no great surprise that an estimated 54,400 photos are taken worldwide per second! Which equates to around 1.72 trillion photos every year.

But what happens to all these photos? Around half of all adults admit to using their mobile as the main storage for their photos. In fact, recent research found that 11% of people have over 7,500 images on their phones, with 8% having over 10,000 images.

Many of these images also end up on social media. The two main platforms for photos are WhatsApp with 6.9 billion images being shared per day and Instagram with 1.3 billion.

However, social media tends to attract very short term interest. So you might enjoy posting or browsing photos of a great party or special event, but it soon becomes yesterday’s news. Sadly as the event fades into the past, the photos are likely to get forgotten too.

Even if you store some of your images in online cloud services – which around 97% of all adults do – most people only bother to view old images once a month.

The benefits of looking at photos

However, simply taking and gathering images does not really benefit you at all. It could be argued that you are better to completely enjoy the moment – whether it’s a gathering, event, concert or anything else – than waste energy taking photos that you will never really look at again.

Research shows that to really benefit from your photos you need to spend time engaging fully with them. This enables you to be transported back to the moment they were taken, which can bring several benefits to your mental wellbeing. For example, looking at old photos can make you feel more positive, calmer and loved.

So what can you do to ensure that you don’t lose all the positive benefits that you could gain from engaging more with your old photos?

The best way to make the most of your photos

Printing photos is becoming increasingly popular with the Millennials and Gen Z generations. Even though they are digital natives, they still find value in the ability of printed material to capture important memories in their lives. Printing photos can be displayed all around your home so that you are able to engage with them on a regular basis.

But if you are thinking that printed photos can sometimes look a little old fashioned, Print Your Memory has an innovative solution for you. A solution that enables you not only to preserve and protect your photos, but also display them in a contemporary and stylish way.

At Print Your Memory we produce stunning metal prints of your favourite photos. The prints are machine printed in crystal clear HD resolution on high quality aluminium, then hand finished for a final personal touch.

So what are the advantages of having your photos printed on metal rather than paper or card? We can think of five straightaway!

Five advantages of metal prints

  • Metal prints have superior quality

We’ve said this already but cannot say it enough! You will be wowed by the quality of our metal prints. The HD resolution really brings your photos to life in a way that just doesn’t happen on other printed media.

  • Metal prints do not need a frame

Our stunning metal prints can either be hung on your wall or displayed on a table top. In both cases, no frame is needed. So your prints will have a chic minimalistic look that focuses all the attention on the image itself rather than the frame. You can of course add a frame if you want to, but the beauty of metal prints is that the choice is all yours.

  • Metal prints can be used outside

You can even hang your Print Your Memory metal prints outside! Your prints will be finished off with a water resistant treatment so that they can look amazing in your garden without anything spoiling. They are lovely and light to handle, so you can take your time to find the very best position without struggling to hold them. And they are also very easy to clean too. Win-win!

  • Metal prints are durable

We’ve all experienced how much printed photos can fade, particularly as they get older. But metal prints don’t do that. They will last for years, even in high temperatures, with no deterioration in image quality. They are also very durable and resistant to all other kinds of damage, such as scratches.

  • Metal prints are recyclable

Last but definitely not least, metal prints are recyclable. So if at any stage you decide to replace some of your prints with different ones, you can rest assured that the aluminium from the old ones can be recycled.
